We're back at Trentham for 2012! This venue is flat, fast and super fun!


Course & directions
The course will include flat, fast open grassy areas, through native bush and some fun up and down stuff at the stop bank. This is one of the most popular courses.
Course map - this may change on the day depending on weather conditions. 1 lap of the course is approximately 3km;
Short course - 1 lap
Medium - 2 laps
Long - 3 laps
Directions - turn off Fergusson Drive Upper Hutt at Bartons Rd entrance, there is lots of parking at the Park or streets around the Park.

Bike checks
The teams at Burkes Cycles, iRide and VIC Cycles are your local Specialized cycle stores. They can hardly wait to see you ride at the Jams. They are more than happy to do a free bike safety check to make sure you have a safe and fun ride on the day.
Registration & Start times
Registration
Families must report to registration before their event. All children will recieve a medal when they finish their course.
Goodies, Jams bike stickers and ordered T shirts event will be given out at registration.
9.30 - 10.00 am: Long course
10.00 - 10.30am: Medium course
10.30 - 10.45: Short course
There will be a briefing just before each category starts. EVERYONE must attend, so make sure you are there and listen hard!
Start - Until entries are finalised we are unable to give exact start times, however, briefing will be shortly after the registration for each group - as above.
The order of starts will be approximately as follows;
Long: Approx. 10.10am

MTB Skills Clinics for Kids
MTB Skills is stoked to present kids specific MTB skills clinics - 'School of Dirt'!
They are running brand new half day courses for kids -Go Snapper sessions – for children new to mountain biking and for those riding smooth, wide and flattish trails wanting to develop more control and the confidence to progress to intermediate trails.
Go! Snapper session (8-10 yrs beginner riders) - Sat 19 May, Wainuiomata Trail Park. 9am-12pm
Go! Snapper session (10-12yrs beginner riders) - Sat 26 May, Wainuiomata Trail Park, 9am-12pm
Instructor to youth ratio is1:6.
Cost $65 ( +$10 discount for 2012 Kids Bike Jams participants- $55).

MTB Parks
Info on Wainuiomata MTB Park click here - start on the Wetland / Family Loop then progress up Jungle Gym and Diverter. If you get to the top go down Snail Trail its so awesome. Track map
Makara Peaks MTB Park - Karori - for beginners hang out at Karori South Park - at the back are short tracks and an awesome Pump track.
Once you're confident - try out the tracks at Makara Peaks - start on Koru and Lazy Fern. There is even a skills area!
